On May 15 we celebrated two years on the road, reflecting on the adventures we've had and many more to come.

Last week we celebrated two years on the road: two years since we towed our trailer out of our friends' pasture and to our first campground, two years of living in 280 square feet and moving our home every few weeks.
Before going full time, we had never camped in an RV or towed anything. When we started out, our plan was to travel the whole country, heading back east within our first few months. Two years in and we are completely content traveling up and down the west coast, spending time in old favorites and finally visiting spectacular places like Yosemite and Lake Tahoe.
When we started this adventure, we didn't know what friendships and socializing would look like for us or our kids. Now we coordinate with friends to be campground neighbors over several months in a series of beautiful places.
Our first year on the road, we consulted our extensive checklist every moving day, making sure we didn't miss anything. Yesterday, we packed up in record time, pulling out of the campground 45 minutes after we started the moving day process.
Our first year our goal was to be as frugal as possible: staying only in Thousand Trails campgrounds where we have a membership. Two years in we still mostly stay in Thousand Trails but explore other options to live exactly where we want to be.
At the start of this journey, our kids were 8 and 6. Now our youngest is older than his brother was when we started.
In the beginning, the most helpful thing the kids did was stay out of the way on moving days. Now they have their own series of moving day tasks, including helping hitch the trailer to the truck.
Two years ago, we were incredibly grateful for the opportunity to travel full time, seeing the world together. Two years in, we can still hardly believe we get to live this life with our kids: traveling to places like Yosemite, the Grand Canyon, the Redwoods and the Oregon Coast, spending our days hiking, surfing, skiing, biking, exploring beaches, mountains and deserts, and homeschooling our kids by exploring the world.
