We're back after a long holiday break and full of big ideas for this next year of Roadschool Atlas.

January 4th, 2026
We took a bit of an extended break from posting and building Roadschool Atlas and are back with renewed energy, fresh ideas and big dreams for the new year.
We are in southern California for another month and enjoying the warmest winter of our lives. And yet even in California it is still winter: the days are short and we have been experiencing abnormally rainy weather for a place that typically gets 10 inches of rain over the course of an entire year. We've been embracing dark evenings and rainy forecasts with puzzles, board games, cooking, baking and, after watching many baking shows over the past few months, trying our hand at chocolatiering.
But California being California there has still been plenty of sunshine and warm temperatures for walks to the beach, bike rides through town and visits to the San Diego Zoo and San Diego Safari Park.
We are currently staying in the same campground for our longest stay ever since hitting the road: 6 weeks conveniently located a few blocks from both the beach and our favorite taco stand, aptly name The Taco Stand. It is a bit strange to reflect on the last year and a half as nomads and realize that we have moved every 2-3 weeks and that now 6 weeks in one place feels like settling down.
Over the last few months we have revisited some of our favorite places in California, made new friends, revisited with dear friends we made in the spring, spent lots of time with our sweet baby niece, visited family and had family visit us, seen the oldest and dearest of friends, and met new fiances and partners.
When we left Washington to pursue this roadschooling life, we had to say goodbye to an incredible community of friends, family and friends who became family. But over the last year and a half we have had the opportunity to see friends we hadn't seen in years, spend more time with family than ever before, have friends and family visit us in our various "homes", nurture friendships from afar and create new friendships along the way.
The new year has us reflecting on an incredible last year of traveling and growing as a family, pursuing an adventure in Kauai that didn't pan out at all how we expected but left us more grateful than ever for the opportunity for this nomadic life, creating an effective homeschool routine that works for all of us, growing our business, and exploring new places.
We have big dreams for the new year and appreciate all of you for following along on our journey. Cheers to new year energy and 2026!
