Finding time to slow down in a life of full time travel
June 20th, 2025
Traveling full time comes with a lot of doing. We move to a new place every few weeks (or even every few days), we set up, we grocery shop and we set off to explore our new "neighborhood." We bike, hike and surf, make new friends and attend meetups for homeschoolers, attend classes and explore museums. There can be a feeling of wanting to "fit it all in" in the relatively short time we have in each place.
And yet traveling full time does not eliminate the need to slow down and stay home from time to time. In fact, the pace of full time RV life can even require more time to slow down and decompress.
We have spent the last week in Leavenworth, WA at one of our favorite campgrounds around the west. It is one of the most beautiful campgrounds we have stayed in and is full of hiking and biking trails. And while Leavenworth is one of the most beautiful outdoor locations we travel to, we are content to just slow down this time and mostly stay home.
Even when there are mountains to explore and new trails to hike, we need to make time to rest and stay home.
We need time to cook and bake and make art.
Time to write and reflect and meditate.
Time to make new campground friends and let the kids ride bikes together all afternoon.
Time to read and research and learn.
Time to rest.
